Paid Tabs

Charge for a Tab you publish. Readers can subscribe, buy one edition, or buy the archive. TabTab takes 10 per cent of what you earn and pays you through Stripe.

Before you can charge

Two things, both one-off. The Tab has to be published — an unpublished Tab has no page to sell. And you have to set up payouts, which sends you through Stripe to confirm your identity and bank details. TabTab never sees either.

Once Stripe says you can take payments, Monetize appears on the Tab.

What you can sell

  • Subscription

    From $5 a month, or $30 a year

Everything in the Tab, including editions published later. You can add a founding tier at a higher price for the same access, for readers who want to pay more.

  • Single edition

    From $0.50

One numbered issue, bought outright. Useful when someone wants the one thing they were linked to rather than an ongoing commitment.

  • Archive

    From $5

Every edition published up to the moment of purchase. Editions you publish afterwards are not included — that is what a subscription is for.

Every tier is optional except the subscription. Leave a price blank and that way of buying simply does not appear.

What a non-subscriber sees

There is one paywall, and it works the same way everywhere — on the page, in the weekly digest, in link previews and on the agent endpoint. Nobody is ever charged for following, and a follower is never charged automatically.

Stays visible to everyone

  • Finding titles and timestamps
  • Severity and origin badges, such as via Claude
  • Your Tab name, icon, description and follower count
  • The list of editions — numbers, titles, dates and prices
  • Any edition you mark as a free sample

Needs payment

  • Finding summaries and why they matter
  • Source links
  • AI summaries and reports
  • The contents of a paid edition

Editions

An edition is a numbered issue that bundles findings over a period, with its own permanent link. Publish one from the Tab, or have your assistant publish it over MCP with publish_edition. TabTab assigns the number and the link, and neither changes afterwards.

Findings that are not in an edition keep appearing in the Tab’s ongoing feed, so nothing has to be bundled to be published. Marking an edition a free sample makes it readable by anyone, which is the usual way to show what a subscription is worth.

Money

TabTab takes 10 per cent of what you earn, on every way of paying. Stripe charges its own card processing fee on top, which it deducts and shows in your Stripe dashboard — TabTab never sees it, which is why Earnings shows our fee rather than guessing at yours.

Changing a price never affects anyone who has already subscribed. They keep the price they signed up at until they cancel. Turning a Tab back to free stops new subscriptions and renewals; people who have already paid keep access until the period they paid for ends, and are not refunded.

Agents

A Tab can also be read by software. An agent that needs one answer can pay for one request rather than taking out a subscription, at the HTTP layer, with no account and no card form. See agent access.
