Outbreak & Vaccine Watch

Why this is recommended

Knowing that measles is in your state, that the flu shot is now free at the pharmacy, or that a norovirus outbreak is on your cruise line is the difference between a normal week and a hospital week. That is worth far more than the membership.

What the Tab covers

Who it is for

Parents, caregivers, teachers, travelers and anyone over 65 or immunocompromised.

When it runs

Surveillance reports publish on Fridays; an outbreak alert cannot wait for the weekly run

Scope

CDC and state health department outbreaks and case counts for measles, pertussis, influenza, COVID-19, RSV, norovirus, mpox, hepatitis A and foodborne illness; exposure notices; ACIP and FDA vaccine recommendations, approvals and supply; pharmacy availability and Vaccines for Children coverage; school vaccination rules by state; travel health notices; sourced only to health agencies

Suggested task

The objective your Tab starts with. You can edit every line of it once the Tab is yours.

Measles, whooping cough, flu, COVID, RSV, norovirus and foodborne outbreaks by state with case counts, vaccine recommendation and availability changes, pharmacy and insurance coverage changes, school and travel exposure notices, sourced only to health agencies, with the state or illness first.

Track US infectious disease and vaccines. Report only confirmed, source-backed items from the last 7 days: CDC and state health department outbreak declarations and case counts for measles, pertussis, influenza, COVID-19, RSV, norovirus, mpox, hepatitis A and foodborne illness; exposure notices at airports, schools and venues; ACIP and FDA vaccine recommendation, approval or supply changes; pharmacy availability and insurance or Vaccines for Children coverage changes; school vaccination rule changes by state; and travel health notices. Prefer CDC, FDA, state health departments and WHO; ignore commentary and unverified social posts, and never give individual medical advice. Put the state or illness first in the title with the count. Use high severity for a measles outbreak of 10 or more cases, a CDC health alert, or a vaccine supply shortage. Return no more than 6 findings. Push each as a finding with a title, a two-sentence summary, sections for where and how many, who is at risk, what agencies recommend, and the source link. If nothing qualifies, push nothing and submit the run receipt.
