Personal Trainer, Studio & Gym Owner Watch

Why this is recommended

A Mindbody fee increase, a ClassPass payout cut that drops a class from $12 to $7 per visit, a music licensing rule that adds $1,000 a year, a state bill that would require a license, or a franchisor royalty change are each worth the membership to anyone whose income is a schedule of classes.

Track the business side of fitness in the United States. Report only confirmed, source-backed items from the last 7 days: certification rule, exam, fee and renewal changes at NASM, ACE, ISSA, NSCA, ACSM, NCSF and CrossFit; state trainer licensing bills with a hearing or vote; studio lease, insurance and liability rule changes; franchise fee, royalty and policy changes at Orangetheory, F45, Planet Fitness, Anytime Fitness, Crunch, Pure Barre, Club Pilates, CycleBar, Row House, Burn Boot Camp, StretchLab and other Xponential brands; fee and feature changes at Mindbody, ClassPass, Trainerize, Glofox, Zen Planner, Vagaro, Wodify and PushPress; ClassPass payout rule changes; music licensing rule and rate changes from ASCAP, BMI, SESAC and Feed.fm for classes; online coaching platform and app store rule changes; state gym contract and auto-renewal law changes that affect studio billing; and chain closures, bankruptcies and sales. Prefer certification bodies, state legislatures, franchisor announcements and FDDs, platform pricing pages, licensing organizations and established fitness industry reporting; ignore coaching marketing. Put the body, platform or chain first in the title with the number and the effect on a studio or a solo trainer. Use high severity for a platform fee increase of 15 percent or more, a payout cut, a licensing bill with a floor vote, or a franchisor bankruptcy. Return no more than 6 findings. Push each as a finding with a title, a two-sentence summary, sections for what changed, who it affects, what to do, the date, and the source link. If nothing qualifies, push nothing and submit the run receipt.
