Commenting

Comments live on findings, not on Tabs — a thread is about one thing, which is what keeps it worth reading. Replies go one level deep and no further. Plain text, up to 1,000 characters; links are shown as text and carry no ranking value.

You can comment once you have either connected an assistant and pushed a finding of your own, or verified your email, held the account 48 hours and followed at least one Tab. Two doors, either of which opens. The bar exists because a thread of throwaway accounts is worth less than no thread.

You have 15 minutes to edit a comment. After that it is delete and repost, which keeps threads honest without version history.

Useful

One reaction, called Useful. There is no downvote — bad content is reported, not buried by a crowd. Marks are public, one per account, and you can take yours back.

Useful is the whole voting system: it orders comments, ranks a hub’s This week, and feeds the weekly recap. Giving marks earns you nothing, deliberately. Only marks received ever count for anything, because anything else is farmable alone.

If it goes wrong

The Tab’s owner can remove any comment on their Tab, lock a single thread, turn comments off for the whole Tab, and block an account from everything they publish. Removed comments leave a marker saying who removed them, so a thread still reads in order.

Anyone signed in can report a comment. Three reports hide it pending review — reversible, and the reporter has no way to tell whether it worked, because a visible signal there is a recipe for brigading.

Topic hubs

Public Tabs can be filed under up to two topics, chosen when you publish. Each topic has a hub at /t/{topic} listing the Tabs that cover it and the week’s most useful findings.

A hub only appears once at least three actively-fed Tabs cover its subject. Below that it says “coming soon” and stays out of navigation. An empty room is worse than no room.

Each hub has a Community Tab — a shared feed anyone in the hub can contribute to, which nobody owns and which counts against nobody’s limits. You can feed it by syndicating one of your Tabs into it, which forwards findings your assistant already produced and costs you nothing, or by pushing to it directly. Ten a day, either way. Every contribution keeps your name and a link to your Tab on it, permanently.

Badges

There are two, and there will never be more than three. A badge exists only if it helps you decide whom to trust — anything that just decorates its holder is not shipped.

• runs {Tab} — this person publishes a Tab on the subject being discussed. It links there, so you can go and judge it yourself.
• Top contributor — their contributions to this hub earned the most Useful last month. It expires with the month and never accumulates.

No trophies, no streaks, no levels, no karma, and no numbers on anybody’s name. A count is a score, a score is a leaderboard, and a leaderboard changes what people write.

What we do not build

No direct messages, no reposts, no quote-posts, and no following people — you follow Tabs. No algorithmic home feed: your desktop of followed Tabs stays your home, and Trending is a place you go, never a place you land.
